During lunch times, the band and I reheared in the studio room. This is because we never had anough time in class because it took us ages to set up and tune the guitar etc...

my activity is music wendsday 14th december 2010
Today we performed!
Firstly we practised for 25 minuetes in our seporate rooms. I sang all the way through for the first time.....with a microphone. It kept on sqeaking but Ms told me it was because i was to near the amp. We cut the end of the song for we had not rehearesed it.
We then set up for the performance. We carried the amps and instrumnents across the rooms- they were really heavy.
I was really cold and I was shivering, which made me more nervous. We were cramed in the corner.......I was really scared! We began and I listened to the intro to begin. however maddy the guitarist fogot to play a short solo, so i diddnt know when to come in. Thankfully when I randomly came in, the other band members slowed down so i could catch up. Im really grateful for that, otherwise it would have been a disaster. I was shakey to start with....but when I got into the chorus, I got better.
The performance diddnt go as well as in rehearsals but never mind. =D

my activity is music
Today, I will be practicing with the band.
We took a long time setting up. Getting all the amps, microphone, leads, instruments etc... Then the band and I managed to play further than we usually get up to. (past the intro) !!!! I sang all the way to the chorus with a microphone for the first time. I sounded much louder and my voice sounded deaper.
However the keyboard players couldnt keep up. We'll have to practice playing in time together.
It was another fun lesson.!!!

We diddnt have a teacher today so we watched a really good horror film called 'The others' instead. It was really fun.

Today, I practised with my band.
My band and I went into a room to rehearse 'supermassive black hole' by muse. We spent most of the time concentrating on the keyboard parts. Then, we experimented with the drum-kit. Deciding what tempo it should be played at and what rythum. We agreed to make it a fast tempo in the end. When we played all the instruments together, it diddnt work! So we practised the intro for the whole lesson, then at lunch we practised more. The keyboards volume was louder when Flora and Maryam played together at the same time. I didnt sing this lesson because it would have probly made the rehearsal even more confusing. Instead i helped the other members of the band.
It's fun rehearsing in a band because it's all our independent work. It feels more rewarding when it goes right.

my activity is drama
Today in drama we are going to be carrying on with blood brothers.
In the theater the two brothers are played by two adults. So we will be observing how to act like little children.
First we watched a film about little children in primarey school, getting ready for a nativity play. The chilren were played by adults. The set was designed to be much bigger that it would be realisticly, to make the tall adults look smaller, like children. I dont think the actors played children very well because they said some rude words like it was normal. small children do not do that. They also didnt use anough child like characteristics for example... fideling with anything in reach. It wasnt very convincing
AT ALL!!!
The second film we watched was so much better. The two men who played old fashioned school boys in a woods, whilst playing airoplanes. The outfits were cute and made them look naughty and little. The way one boy held his body posture was really good for he sulked his frame and bowded his head a lot. There was a rude boy who wasnt that nice. He was convincing in the way he spat and pushed the other. The reaction from the boy who was the victim was well acted. He looked perfetic and helpless. The film really made you think they were actd by little boys.
Todays lesson was useful because it showed you how much effort it takes to make sure you use all your body, speach and emotions to convince the audiance you are playing a little child.

In drama we are focusing on BLOOD BROTHERS.
Today when we took the register i had to say i was here in a liverpool acient. "ooorrrttttiiigggghhhhtttt" (alright) Then we got into groups. I was in a 5. We had to make freeze frames of the mums (miss lions) song. My group and I were given the first paragraph. I played the dad. Once we had rehearsed it a couple of times we performed in front of the class. What worked well in my group was that we thought about timeing. there for it ran smoothly. Todays lesson was another fun performing art lesson.

Today we used two keyboards and an electric guitar. Maddy the guitarist already new the first part of the song, so i practised singing up to what she could play. However because the guitar was so loud and deap, you couldnt hear me. Hopefully Ruby and I will have microphones on the day of the performance. We all helped Flora and Maryam on the keyboard, by working out the chords. Todays lesson was fun because we all helped eachother well and got to practise with instruments, which we dont really do!!!!!!!

my lesson is music
Today in music i am going to be put in groups to form a band.
We could choose our groups, im with Maddy, Flora, Maryam and Ruby. Then in our group, we had to think of a song that we would play at the end of the term. Our decision was Muse - "supermassive black hole". I had never heard of it before but Maddy humed me the tune. We also had to decide who was going to do what in the band. Maddy is going to be guitarist, Ruby is going to be drumest, Flora and Maryam are going to play the keyboard and im going to sing solo. I think our song is going to be a challenge because it has lots of key in instruments that need to be played together, we will have to practise timing alot. A steady drum beat will help.

My activity is keyboard
Today we were going to carry on practising Bruno Mars "Billionair" on the keyboard.
First we filled out a sheet about the terms lessons. Once i copmleted it i went on the keyboard. I didnt really understand how to play it.

Arts review
Today i was suprised that we were going to watch a performance by Sam.J.Clark.
He and his quitarist have benen in the performing arts industry for some time now and were very friendly and confident when introducing them selves.
Fistly Sam told the year that the reason why he was here today was because he wanted to premote his first released album and also to inform us about Blood Donating. He's a Blood Embasider and wanted us to consider becoming one in the future.
Then we watched a video clip on Blood Donating. It was well rehearsed and told us important statistics and facts.
After the video clip, he performed his song "Devastated" with his guitarist. Sam also played the guitar as well as singing. It was a really strong performance. His voice was clear, loud and unique. The guitar playing was so good- it made me want to start learning how to play it.
Once the performance was over, the whole year and i gave a massive aploud!
Then we were aloud to ask questions... somebody asked if he had met any celebrities and he said he has done, but doesnt see them as labeled "CELEBRITIES" for he said there exactly like any other, every day person. He said he was sat next to Peter Aundre yesterday!!!!!!! Another question was how did he get into the performing arts industry in the first place. He replied by saying that he entered an australian competition to act on niebours for 3 months. Out of 4000 applicants, he wone! (very lucky and talented).
Lastly he signed autographs for everyone, which was nice of him because he could have just given us photo copied ones.
Over all, the performance, video and speech was very entertaining and well organised!!!

My activity is keyboard
Today i will be learning how to play Bruno mars "billioniar" song on the keyboard. in the begging of the lesson i was given a booklet from my teacher. it asked what sort of performing arts activities i've done and what activities i would like to do in the future. Then there was questions about what topic and focuss i will be doing the next term (all about the song lean on me). I chose singing (either solo or harmoney) whilst playing the keboard. once id answered all the questions fully-which i did, i was then aloud to start learning the song "billionair". i diddnt really get far in the piece of music for i couldnt understand were to place my hands, on what keyboard. I was going to get help from my teacher but it was already the end of the lesson. i will keep trying to learn the song next lesson.
I behaved well in todays lesson and listened to my teacher, without chating or talking over her. i didnt implament ideas because we diddnt discuss ideas today however i did answer questions when asked.

my lesson is dance
today i will be performing my dance, for my assessment.
firstly i practised my dance routune with my group and added quick changeds to improve it. Then we chose to dance to missy elliots music. finally i performed the dance with my group......i wasnt to nervous for once. Even though i just learnt the dance today, i picked it up quickly and managed to finish it. i think our dance went well! the other groups were really good aswell!!!!
Todays lesson was FUN

My activity is keyboard
In todays lesson we will carry on with the song "OMG" by Usher on the keyboard.
I learnt how to play the chords with out stopping. Once we done that Ms Striesow told us to then add our on pattern into the chords to make it more difficult and sound better. I struggled with this so i asked Ms Striesow for help. Eventaully i could do it. I practised for a bit untill we had to perform our version of OMG to the class one at a time. During the performance i fogot when to come in which was embarising but i managed to get through it.
In todays lesson i conributed by listening to the teacher.

It was FUN!

In todays lesson i will carry on with semi-tones then move on to major and minor chords.
I learnt, out of todays lesson how to count semi-tones better. Then we moved on to working out the intrevals for major chords. They are....between the first and second note there has to be 4 semi-tones and between the second and the third note there has to be 3 semi-tomes. After that we worked out the intervals for minor chords. They are the reverse.....between the first and second note there has to be 3 semi-tones and then between the second and third note there has to be 4 semi-tones.

My activity is dance wedsday 29th september
Today i will be learning a new dance.
Out of todays lesson i learnt a new fun dance, miss went through the steps at a good pace. I then practised the dance with a partner "zoe".
In this lesson i diddnt contribute anything apart from listening to the teacher and learning the steps of the dance, which was what we were asked to do.

My activity is keyboard
In todays lesson we will be learning how to play "omg" by Usher on the keyboard. once the class learns the piece, we will play it all together at the end of the lesson.
I leanrt how to play the first chords of the song. It took some time for me and Ruby to get it right.

Review of arts award event (silver award unit)
The piece is about children in war and it was demonstrated in random scenes. The actors were different charaters in each scene. Sometimes they were talking as if they were dead and saying what they would have done if they didnt't get shot. They also played different ages of children too. Othertimes they were soldiers. The storyline was about childrens experiances and their emotions.
The set was very simple but effective.There was chairs at the back where the actors who were not in role at that time sat.This meant the cast was always on stage and were seen. The lighting was grim to sute the story. when the actors talked about death and violance, the stage lighting turned red, representing blood! The actors costumes where plain black. This made them look dark and depressing along with making a sad atmosphere, which is kept in the theme.
I thought the staging was placed well because it didn't distract you from the point that they were trying to get across. I also thought it was clever as it was able to be different places to where they were acting in the story. The stage, set and lighting was not happy and colourful. This was good because WAR was grim and and not colourful.
I thought the acting was realistic and natural. It didn't look staged. (this is a good thing). They had sad emotions and kept in character. They always cheated out towards the audiance. (meaning-never turned their back to the audiance).This is a good skill to have- to be aware of the space provided to act in. The movements werent as good as the acting as they didnt use much of the space when talking or mime etc...
I thought the performance was effective because they made you believe that they were feeling what they were saying. when we asked questions at the end of the performance,One girl said that they had to think of something terribly sad to get into character.
Overall, i enjoiyed the performance because i could hear most of the actors clearly- some were muffiling their lines because they mixed them up but some were just quite. The actors were interesting to watch because they alll had a unique look about them, giving contrast. They also each had different ways of acting. Some suttle and others big and bold- both were good. They played their characters well. Especailly in the rape scene. This is because some of their lines where really awkward but they diddn't show signs of awkwardness.
