BLOOD BROTHERS (Review)
I went to see 'Blood Brothers' at the theater in the west end!
It was brilliant.
It is about two brothers who are seporated at birth. One lives
with the birth mother, who is poor with loads of other children
and the other goes and lives with a rich family. They meet at the start of the play, not knowing tht they are brothers but become best friends. They relationship gets messed around during the play as they fall in love with the same girl etc... but then at the end they find out that they are brothers just before they both die!
The set was really good. There were doors (front doors for houses)
placed at a slant so that the audiancecould see them, instead
of being at the side. This worked well becauseyou could
see the actors leaving and entering clearly. There was awashingline,
that hung from both sides of the stage, a bridge and a plain
brick wall.
I could hear the actors well, which was helpful.
The lighting was quite dark, to make a grim atmosphere. It was
set in a poor part of liverpool. However when the family move to
the country side, to make a fresh start, The lighting is bright and yellow.
This represents the sun and positiveness. When there were solo
parts (singing), the actor would have a spot light. This brought all
focuss onto them.
The acting was extremly well performed. The children were played
by adults, which was slightly strange to begin with. However as the play
went on, you fogot that they were adults because they were so
convincing. There body language, posture and speech was just like
a child. There was some comedy and serious emotional scenes.
They were both acted well. It made me cry at some parts :(
The accents were very good - in drama at school when we had
to attempt a liverpool accent...I couldnt do it, but I tried. It
was very funny.
What I didnt think worked well was The death scene. They
should have belt the tension up even more. But! The gun shot
was effective because it made every one in the theater JUMP.
I thought Blood Brothers was one of the best shows that I have
seen! It had different types of genres. Including tragic, romance
and comedy. I would recomend any one to see this show, even
if they dont enjoiy musicals. This is because it isn't cheesy and
it is well acted. The story line is touching and grips you right from
the begining.

My activity is keyboard LESSON 3
Today, the class and I had to sort our selves into groups of 7 or 8. Zoe and I went
into a group of only boys. Then mrs told us what our project will be...
It is to make up a lesson about music, to teach a year 7 class. The topics to teach
are DYNAMIC, TEMPO, TIMBRE, PITCHN and more...
We wrote down all the things we need to include in our lesson. Then for homework (H/W), each member of the group has to research thier given topic and decide how to make it into a lesson. I have the topic 'TEMPO'.
However I am worried (and zoe) because the other people in our group, seem to mess around and were not taking it seriously this lesson. :( ....... hopefully we will work together well and teach a good lesson!

my activity is dance LESSON 4
Today, we recaped over the dance in our groups. We added our
own steps at the end of the teachers choreography. All my ideas
were used :) but we diddn't remove any dance steps.
My group and I reheared the whole dance many times...to make
sure that we got the timing right.
I maniged to dance in time through the whole routine.

My activity is dance LESSON 3
Today I got into a group to dance with. First the group and I rehearsed the dance we learnt last week together. Then we created 4 differnt shapes with our bodies. The first three shapes were very indian... to go with the indian music. Once we created our 4 shapes we added them to the dance (were there is slow music)... We practised a couple times... Then we tried making Maryam and I skip backward to start with and Flora and Ruby to skip forward first. I kept fogetting that I was supposed to go backwards because I was taught the chorography forwards! :)
Next lesson we will choreograph our own steps.

my activity is keyboard LESSON 2
Today we talked about our GCSE's for the first half of the lesson. :)
Then I went onto the keyboards to practice more of the james bond theme tunes. I started going over what i learnt from last week (the chords) to refresh my mind and remember it well...but then realised we were ment to learn a new bit. It diddnt matter because I quickly picked it up when the whole class was playing together.
I enjoiyed todays lesson!

my activity is dance! LESSON 2.
Today I danced to Indian style music. However we didnt 'dance' in an indian way.
At the begining of the lesson I warmed up and stretched. Mrs taught the class and I a warm up dance. It really losened us up.
Then we started learning the dance. The steps at the start of the dance are simple but get harder nearer the middle of the choreography. Its hard to stay in time with the music... but I entually managed!
This lesson was really good because I could feel my muscles acking..in a good way :)
I felt like I must have been trying my hardest because I was so out of breath and normally when I dance I dont.
I really enjoiyed this lesson x

my activity is keyboard LESSON 1
Today the class and I was told what topic we would be studying this term. It is 'Film Music' .... I was happy because I love film and I love music.
I was given a sheet with the numbers 1-10. So that when I listen to 10 tracks, I can guess whether they are music for a thriller/action or Sci-fi or western or cartoon. I got 10 out of 10 right. :) It was really fun recognising where the music came from!
Then we watched a clip of the film 'Jaws' without sound (silant). It had no tention and diddnt feel scarey at all. So we then watched the same clip but with sound. It changed the scene all together. The music was creapy and tention building. We looked at the musical noted for the music... it only consited of 3 notes maximum. The way the composer got the notes to varey was making them speed up or increase and decrease the volume. The instruments used were the deepest of the strings.
Afterwards we listended to mrs play the 'James Bond' music (I love James Bond) !!! ... and gave us the sheet of music, so that we could learn it aswell. So far I have only learnt the chords.
Before the end of the lesson, the whole class and I played all together!
Really fun lesson :D

my activity is dance! LESSON 1
Today Mrs wanted to remind the class and I what a 'rights respecting school' was... it is when each student and teacher has the right to say what they think, give opinions and express themselves how they want to be. I wondered why we were talking about 'rights respecting' untill the class and I watched a clip of dance.
The dance had no music (dead silant) and the dancers were all male. There was a lot of conflict between the two 'inspectors' and the captured prisoner. As there was no music to tell a story or add atmosphere etc... the dancers had to make sharp, easy to understand movements, to make it clear to the audiance. When ever an 'inspector' asked a question he would make a noise with his foot, or display a vicous movement or point, whilst the other dancers stay still. The dance seemed extremly hard to do because you have to be clear with every strech and body movements.
Then I got into a group to make up our own 'inspector' and 'prisoneri'. I was a prisoner. I took more lead in directing the dance rather than dancing.
When it was time to show our performances, I wasnt that confident because we only had 10 mins to create and rehearse them. When it was the group and my turn, we got into our positions (I started sitting on the seat). However we diddnt know when to come in, so we froze awkwardly. Then miss told us that there isnt much music to dance to, so we would have to go when ever we were ready...so we did. Our dance was really short. It wasnt the best but we still finished it. :)
